April 9, 2012 – According to reports an investigation has been launched into the death of a woman that was a patient at the Valley Surgical Center in West Hills. According to police an investigation has been launched in the death of Paule Rojeski age 55, who became the fifth person to die after a Lap-Band surgery at the surgical center.

Authorities said that Rojeski was transported from the Valley Surgical Center in West Hills on September 8th to a hospital. Rojeski was pronounced dead at the hospital and in January a lawsuit was filed in the death of Rojeski, stating her death may have been caused by a series of medical mistakes. The suit says that the mistakes were made by two technicians, including the way her intravenous line was administered.

Rojeski, who friends said was not extremely overweight and they did not feel she needed the surgery, to be the second patient at the West Hills facility to die.
